and at the international level there is rise in terrorist,
militant and insurgent activities, there is need to provide
special protection vehicles to our security personnel
and VIP's who have, to operate in such areas. Keeping
in view these special requirments STAR WIRE (INDIA) LTD.
has undertaken a project of bullet Proofing of vehicles
produced and built to special orders and supply vehicles
for military, para-military and police organisations as
per the requirments, projected by them.
Phantom
Steel Armour Plate
The armouring of the entire passenger compartment is done by
PHANTOM STEEL armour plate which can effectively defeat, threats
from high velocity projectiles like 7.62mm and AK-47 rifle fires
with velocity upto 800 to 1000mtrs/sec.
All transitions from transparent to non-transparent to non-transparent
areas-including cracks around doors-are provided with overlapping
armouring. This overlap design ensures safety whatever the firing
angle. An expensive but essential measure.
Chassis
and Suspension
Due to the increase in weight, chassis and suspension system
of the concerned vehicle is strengthened as per requirment.
Bullet
Proof Glass
Different
thickness of glasses are used on wind shields and window panes
with thickness varying from 20mm to 50mm which can defeat threats
from light weapons to high velocity projectiles like AK-47/7.62
and sniper rifle fires.
To cope with the extra loads imposed by the additional weight
of the safety features it is necessary to make the braking system
more powerful.
Tyres
To provide safe passage of vehicles through threatened areas
tube less Tyres with Run flat system are to be provided to the
vehicles to enable the vehicles to move out from an ambush and
travel 10-15 km even if the tyres are shot through.
Note
The bullet proof vehicle
will have threat perception of level II/III & IIIA.
Top hood of the vehicle will be covered
by Kevlar layers / 3mm PHANTOM STEEL
depending on the requirment and is optional.
Fuel Tank will be provided with EXO-THERMA
material which is Anti-Explosive.
The special protection cars essentially
will have an A.C. unit
Approx. weight of the special protection
vehicle will increase due to thick glasses, phantom steel
and other fitments for 250kg. to 350 kg. on light vehicles
and 1500 kg. on medium vehicles.
